DPD Local - Serious injury

The package arrived at the correct address and was placed in the step, directly in front of the front door. This is a trip hazard, and considering a photo is taken off the location of the parcel, should be stored sensibly. Unfortunately, a trip is exactly what happened. Serge opened the front door and was already in motion when he discovered a box under his foot as he stepped out. Too late to avoid it, destroyed the box as he fell and broke his arm. He was taken to hospital, has been operated on and is staying there overnight. He's still in shock and I don't know what he plans to do when he gets home and whether he will contact DPD, as this will affect his job and home life. The box itself was completely destroyed though most of the plants are salvagable. Please educate your staff to leave the parcels in a sensible location so it doesn't pose a risk, particularly as they take photographic evidence of the delivery. I didn't take a picture of Serge and his injuries as it was a panic to get him to hospital but can provide picture of delivery proof and destroyed box. Parcel number:***** 565. Postcode RG30 2NL

In addition to the above, I have been informed by Serge and another person in the house at the time that no doorbell was rung or a knock on the door, to warn that there was an obstruction outside the front door. Serge is still in hospital, traction for the days as it was one arm bone and three finger bones, broken. His surgery included metalwork being done to hold it all together.

Update: As Serge cannot work, and being a kitchen porter means that he gets minimum sick leave, leaving him and his family in a tough situation. We're hoping that he will only be out of action for a few weeks, but don't know yet if there will be complications or limitations going forward. I still don't understand why it the box was placed in such a risky position and not in the crate, clearly shown in the photo you took, to the right of the door where everyone else puts parcels or in a safe position. Also not ringing the bell or knocking, to alert something maybe outside. Anyway, I have attached his medical papers.
